Dress Code

we have dance wear for sale in our studio!

We carry Sansha dance products. We have a variety of leotards from toddler to adult, soft ballet shoes, pointe shoes, and jazz shoes. We also carry an assortment of tights. All in-studio purchases meet the requirements of our Dress Code, but we do not require dance attire be purchased from us.

Dress Code for Southside Dance Studio


For all dancers: tights should be free of excessive holes or runs.

Male Dancers:

Tights or athletic pants and appropriate footwear


For Female Dancers:

For all other classes, hair should be neat and pulled back from your face. For all dancers, your hair should not interfere with your ability to complete turns.

Creative Movement: ballet shoes, tights, solid-colored leotard with attached skirt or leotard/skirt combination

Intro to Ballet: ballet shoes, tights, solid-colored leotard with attached skirt or leotard/skirt combination

Ballet 1: ballet shoes, tights, solid-colored leotard with attached skirt or leotard/skirt combination

Ballet 2: ballet shoes, tights, solid-colored leotard with attached skirt or leotard/skirt combination

Intermediate Ballet and Higher: level-appropriate ballet shoes, tights, leotard. Skirts or shorts or sweaters are allowed, no pants or bulky coverings

Hip Hop: athletic clothes that allow for movement, a designated pair of athletic shoes for in-studio use only (please do not wear these shoes elsewhere)


Jazz: tights, leotard, tan jazz shoes. Shorts, athletic pants, or sweaters are allowed but no bulky coverings


Modern: tights, leotard, no shoes are required. Shorts, athletic pants, or sweaters are allowed but no bulky coverings


Tap: tights, leotard, black tap shoes (no character tap shoes). Shorts, athletic pants, or sweaters are allowed but no bulky coverings.
